פרופ׳ סיגל אלון

פרופסור אלון חוקרת את אי השיוויון (הסוציואקונומי, האתני והמגדרי) במערכה ההשכלה גבוהה בארה"ב ובישראל. במחקריה היא מנסה לברר תהליכים מעל ומתחת לפני השטח אשר יוצרים, משמרים, ומגדילים את הפערים בנגישות להשכלה גבוהה ובסיום התואר.

כך, למשל, מחקריה מספקים תשובה מדוע אי השוויון המעמדי והאתני-גזעי בנגישות להשכלה גבוהה גדל למרות ההתרחבות של מערכת ההשכלה הגבוהה וקיומן של תוכניות להעדפה מתקנת, מדוע שיעורי סיום הלימודים והציונים של סטודנטיות יותר גבוהים משל סטודנטים, או מדוע סטודנטים עניים נושרים מן הלימודים למרות שקיבלו סיוע כלכלי וכדומה.

עבודתה מאופיינת בקישור של מופעי אי שוויון למדיניות ציבורית ולשאלות של צדק חלוקתי. לאחרונה, לאחר מחקר שעסק בגורמים ובהשלכות של מדיניות ההעדפה המתקנת בארה"ב, החלה לבחון את מדיניות ההעדפה המתקנת  באוניברסיטאות בישראל.

על מנת לחקור את הנושא, ובעזרה של תקציב מחקר גדול מקרן ספנסר האמריקאית בנתה בסיס נתונים על מועמדים, סטודנטים, ובוגרים המתפרס על פני 12 שנתונים וכולל מידע על כל הקריירה הלימודית שלהם (בארבע האוניברסיטאות הסלקטיביות: ת"א, עברית, טכניון, ב"ג).

בסתו 2015 יתפרסם ספרה Race, Class and Affirmative Action המסכם את התובנות ממחקר זה. פרופסור אלון פרסמה בג'ורנלים המובילים בסוציולוגיה, בכלכלה, ובחינוך, ומחקרה ממומן ע"י קרנות מחקר מובילות בעולם.

 

 

ד"ר אנסטסיה גורודזייסקי

Ph.D., Tel-Aviv, 2009

Dr. Anastasia Gorodzeisky' current research interests lie in three major areas:

1) discriminatory attitudes and prejudice (with focus on migrant populations);

2) international migration and economic incorporation of immigrants; and

3) cross-national comparative sociology. After completion of her PhD studies in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Tel Aviv University,

she spent three years as a Research Fellow in the Center for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences at Juan March Institute, Madrid, Spain.

Her work has been published in such journals as American Sociological Review, Ethnic and Racial Studies, European Sociological Review, European Journal of Industrial Relations, Social Problems, International Journal of Public Opinion Research and others.

 

 

 

פרופ׳ חנה איילון

Hanna Ayalon is Professor Emerita of  Sociology of Education. She served as chair of the Department of Educational Policy (1995-1999), and of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology (2005-2007).

She completed her Ph.D. at Tel Aviv University. Her areas of interest include educational inequality, educational reforms, comparative research in education, and quantitative research methods.

Her recent journal publications address a variety of educational topics including social consequences of the expansion of higher education in Israel (European Sociological Review);

a comparison of the diversification of higher education in Israel and the United States (Sociology of Education);

Curriculum differentiation and educational inequality (Teacher College Records); the effect of educational reforms on social inequality (Sociology of Education); 

for-profit mid-career programs as a second chance (Higher Education Policy).

She served as the chair of the University Committee for Admission Policy (2010-2012).
